Mothers Day Gifts for Grandma

Mothers Day gifts for Grandma need to be extra special because Grandmothers are special.

Grandmas have time to spend with a child in ways that Moms are often too busy for. They have time to listen.

Grandmas can tell lots of stories about when they were little or when Mom or Dad was young.

It's important for young children to be able to do something special for Grandma because having a grandparent is very important.

A calling card would be very appreciated, too. Along with it write a letter telling her how much she means to you.

Any gift a child makes for his or her Grandmother will be cherished by her.

Gift Basket

For a grandmother living on a limited income, a gift basket of goodies she can use is a thoughtful gift. Check the dollar store for ideas to add to these baskets.

Help your child decorate a box, basket, or special gift bag for Grandma.

A grandmother with special skills, such as knitting, crocheting, or sewing would really appreciate receiving the materials to enable her to make gifts for her children and grandchildren.

Gift Basket Ideas

Dessert Basket: cookies, chocolates, variety teas, gourmet coffees, hot chocolate packets or hot cider packs. Or bake brownies or sweet breads.

Meal Basket: Fill with a canned ham or chicken, sweet potatoes, and cranberry sauce. At the last minute add frozen vegetables, dinner rolls, and a bakery treat.

Snack Basket: special crackers, cheeses, summer sausages, small bags of chips, etc, popcorn, pretzels and a favorite beverage or two. Add craisins or other dried fruits and nuts (if she has no allergies).

Mail Basket: Fill with notecards, all occasion cards, note paper, postage stamps, stickers, and a pretty pen or two.

Cut a stack of paper to notepaper size and let your child stamp or decorate them for grandma's notes.

Hobby Basket: If she likes to crochet or knit add various yarns and a pattern book or magazine. Tubes of paint, brushes, pad of paper or canvases are nice for a Grandma who paints. Or give fabric and thread to a Grandma who sews.

Reader's Basket: Fill with books she likes to read and add a magazine subscription you know she would love, along with a couple of bookmarks made by her grandchild.

If she is finding it difficult to read, include a magnifying glass and a small book reading light. A nice idea is a magnifier you lay on the page and it magnifies the whole page at once.

Television Basket: A snuggly blanket or lap robe, soft warm slippers, wrist warmers or leg warmers, and a selection of snacks (see snack basket above). Add a subscription to TV Guide.
